Class Description

This class will combine science experiments with the Odyssey of the Mind (OM) strategies. Meet the merger of exciting science experiments and tackling crazy fun and unique challenges! Are you ready to get messy and create some really cool science things? Making slime (regular or edible), ice cream, geysers, fossils, DNA extraction, and bath bombs are only “some” of our fun activities. We may also race balloon rockets, experiment with mild acids, create solutions, and test bacteria around the school. If you are repeating the course, rest assured we ALWAYS have NEW experiments in addition to some of your favorites!! Mrs.Shipman will be taking requests for the experiments you love. Spontaneous problem solving will encompass verbal & hands-on problems utilizing Odyssey of the Mind (OM) resources. This approach fosters teamwork & collaboration while learning to solve problems within a specified time frame. Students will be placed in teams and each week, up to 5 challenges will be tackled & strategies will be shared.
